Intentional shepherding means modeling Christ to a group of children. Volunteers of Promiseland strive to creatively provide important biblical information that is relevant to a child’s life. They also understand that building a relationship with a child may be the most effective teaching tool of all. We have the incredible privilege, as authentic Christ followers, of representing Jesus and modeling what it means to be a follower of Christ to children each week. Kids are greatly influenced by adults who believe in them, encourage them, and guide them. So, volunteers commit to stay with a group of children to care for them, know them, disciple them, and help them become more like Christ. Within that context, we can help our children develop spiritually as we lay a foundation of key biblical principles that will guide them for the rest of their lives. We have an opportunity to build a lasting legacy of faith each year as we shepherd our children.
We want first time attenders to feel especially welcome to our church. You can identify a new attender by the little handprint sticker that is on their name badge. Please go out of your way to make sure these people are connected to a friend and enjoy their time with us.
To assist you in staying connected to the kids in your small groups, we provide regular attendance information to the Small Group Leaders. Use this list to see which of your kids have been absent from church and take the time to send them a quick post card or note. There is a red workstation in Room 112 with blank note cards for you to use.
Promiseland automatically sends a Birthday Card to kids that encourages them to bring in the card for a special gift. If you receive one of these cards, contact a staff member or your coach so you can be sure to celebrate this very special day with the child. |
